Buying jeans online is easy once you know your two key numbers: your waist size and your inside leg length.
Step 1: Measure your waist
Wrap a soft tape measure around your natural waistline, usually just above the hip bones and around the belly button. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Round to the nearest inch, as jeans come in whole-inch waist sizes.
Step 2: Measure your inside leg
Stand straight and measure from your crotch seam down to where you want the hem to finish, usually the ankle bone. If you have a pair that fits well, you can also lay them flat and measure the inside seam.
Step 3: Pick your leg length
- 27 inch: Extra short
- 29 inch: Short
- 31 inch: Regular
- 33 inch: Long
Tips for a better fit
- Measure over thin underwear, not over thick clothes.
- If you are between sizes, think about how you like to wear your jeans: snug or relaxed.
- Denim can relax slightly with wear, so a close fit at first is normal.
